If you are a jazz fan and live in Toronto, you could be forgiven for not having heard Jon Seiger perform. From Upstate New York, Jon is by no means an unknown visitor to Southern Ontario (he played 2 gigs in Kitchener in September). But his appearances right within Toronto seem to be relatively few, which is a pity.
You have an opportunity to enjoy this man's work on Sunday November 6th, 5 to 8 pm, at The Queen Victoria's Pub, Scaborough. Jon is the special guest with Dinny's Allstars, who are resident at this location (2250 Midland Avenue, just south of the 401) .
Jon is an accomplished musician. Equally at home on trumpet or piano, he has a penchant for playing - and singing - in the style of Louis Armstrong. A gregarious, born bad leader, it will be interesting see who comes out as the de facto band leader by the end of the evening - Dinny (Brian Dinsdale, also on trumpet) or Jon. The septet also comprises: Glenn Anderson/drums, Ron Johnson/bass, Tony Quarrington/banjo/guitar, Chris Robinson/reeds and Peter Turner/trombone.
